I was just diagnosed with HSV-2. During my first outbreak I didn't masturbate for 2 weeks so the sores could heal. My question is, After sores have healed and you masturbate, and accidentally touch your face to scratch an itch or any other area, will it spread to that area of your body?

Yes, it is possible to spread it to other parts of your body. I was diagnosed with HSV-2 orally and somehow ended up spreading it to myself genitally. I would urge you to clean and dry the site of infection separately from the rest of your body.

Your body builds antibodies to the virus. When you are first diagnosed, it is possible to spread it to other parts of your body...including your fingers. After your first outbreak it is very unlikely to spread because your body has built up resistance.

That is true, mainly through contact with soft tissue skin like around eyes, genitals and z anus. If with a new partner all protection available should be used even though the risk of infection is relatively low. If with a trusted partner also with the same virus just go for it...if not a 2 minute soapy wash soon after may save a lifetime of problems and might be fun :) It can be well managed with a little forethought. It is just an extension of personal hygiene that will ensure a annoying virus will not get a chance to get more annoying.

No, once healed it should not spread to another area of your body, however you should always be mindful of the possibility of cross contamination to your eyes from touching yourself or a partner, pre-during or after an outbreak. The virus is weak and can not survive for long outside of the body, if you feel this may of happened by accident wash eyes out asap with soap and water or anything that will normally not hurt your eyes and don't stress. Soap and water can also kill the virus in other circumstances. The good news is normally your fist outbreak is the worst. PS i am not from the medical fraternity so i stand to be corrected if a doctor can give a better opinion as to your situation, don't worry many of us have been were you are right now and you have come to the right place for help and support. Good luck and stay calm ;)

In my research I read that the skin can still have the virus and it's possible to transfer it.
