Hello,
I got tested and all came back negative except HSV. It appears Syphillis and herpes almost look identical. How do I know that the blood test didn’t pick up on syphilis and just herpes? When i take my medicine the hsv goes away so that makes me think it is just herpes.

There seems to be no easy answer to this one. Although it seems clear that HSV1 can be passed from the mouth to genitals, my partner acquired HSV1(G) this way, however does not have HSV1 on her lips. In my case I got HSV1(O) in 1996, and I understand developed antibodies to HSV1 so it could not transmit to other parts of my body. I acquired HSV2 (G) in 2001, with very mild symptoms and it was confirmed with a swab test. My understanding is that even if I did not have the swab test, I could be fairly certain that that I got HSV2 in 2001 because I already had antibodies to the other type.
My question is that if my partner knows she has HSV1 on her genitals, is it also possible to pass on HSV2 to her on the genitals as well? Can you have both types, 1 and 2 on your genitals or mouth?
